if you go, and I highly recommend it, and you use google maps, you should get directions to Tenerife Self Catering, not La Bodega Casa Rural. At time of writing, the latter point in maps is wrong.

Furthermore, I recommend that you avail yourself of the wonderful dinners (and wines) which the hosts offer.

As you can tell, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

We have returned to La Bodega for the past three years for a relaxing and enjoyable bit of Autumn sun. It never disappoints. The Villas and grounds are all beautifully maintained and the hosts, Sheila and Ray are a delight. Always present if needed but never invasive of your privacy. The gardens are well laid out with fresh fruit trees and a lovely pool overlooked by several areas to sit and eat and take in the views. There is plenty of outdoor seating for each Villa and guests never feel as though they are on top of each other. Positioned halfway up the mountain, you are close enough to the resorts to be able to drop in when you want without feeling you are part of a 'Holiday Resort'. The small town has everything you need and some good little authentic bars and restaurants. The location is perfect for exploring the island and Mt Teide is a short drive up the Mountain. Sheila cooks a wonderful meal on request and we will not hesitate to book again to spend time at this tranquil haven.

From the first time you contact them you know that you are on to a winner! Sheila and Ray are wonderful hosts. They really WANT you to enjoy your stay and will offer as much or as little help and information as each individual guest(s) requires. Suggestions for places to visit, timing of visits (e.g. Masca!), walks, beaches, boat trips, restaurants etc. were invaluable.|La Bodega is located about 20 minutes from Tenerife South Airport, with day trips to any part of the island feasible. Being off the beaten track from the tourist resorts means not getting caught up in traffic jams.There are just 3 well equipped 'cottages' each for couples: quiet, exclusive, comfortable and spacious accommodation, perfect for two.|There are good shops (small supermarket, baker, pharmacy, butcher etc.) within easy walking distance in the village, plus large supermarkets a short drive away. Sheila will also cook delicious evening meals for guests to enjoy in their cottage or outside on the patio. There is plenty of external space, a pool and a pretty garden.|A week there was not long enough. Can't wait to return!

Brian and I clearly remember our first visit to La Bodega several years ago. It is set in grounds which are an oasis of tranquillity within the small working town of San Miguel. The view towards the coast from the apartment is splendid, distant and yet it is easily accessible by car, as are the walks in the surrounding hills. The owners have great experience in interacting with guests and are happy to advise and help, whilst respecting privacy at all times. Before we originally came to Tenerife we were not convinced the island was our 'style', but we have now returned several times to La Bodega, always assured of a relaxing stay. We've been to La Bodega three years in a row now, and we're absolutely hooked. The cottages are comfortable, spacious, tastefully decorated, and well-equipped, and the gorgeous garden - with pool - is made for relaxation.

The owners, Ray and Sheila, are the most welcoming hosts you could ever come across, and Sheila's home cooking, from lasagne to lamb shanks to langoustines, is top class. (We've eaten lunches all over the island, which is easy to explore by car from San Miguel, but having a gourmet evening meal served up in the cottage is just marvellous. High on quality, low on hassle. Suits us anyway!)

If you want the wonders and the weather of Tenerife, but value the chance of peace and quiet away from the big resorts, then La Bodega is for you.

We stayed here for six nights late March / early April 2017. What a peaceful, relaxing and delicious experience. The hosts, Sheila, Ray and their daughter Kate, were welcoming, warm, accommodating and helpful. We stayed in Frangipani Cottage which was spacious and spotlessly clean. Lots of traditional character with high wooden ceilings and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on abroad. The pool area is lovely and quiet - a perfect spot for a lazy day with a cold drink from the honesty bar. Sheila is not only a good host but an amazing cook; we ate our evening meals there twice during our stay and upon reflection, we should have eaten there every night. We normally make an effort not to visit the same place / accommodation more than once (the world is a big place!), but I think on this occasion we will make an exception.

We stayed at La Bodega for 2 weeks in December 2016.
It was very easy to find in our rental car due to the clear directions provided by our hosts Sheila and Ray. The location is excellent with easy access from the airport, to the Mount Teide national park up the hill and the best beach on the island about 15 minutes away.
This care was evident during all of our stay. The accommodation was very good indeed, well thought out and attractive. Sheila can provide wonderful meals (in winter think lamb, duck and venison ..) at very reasonable prices which are brought ready to serve to your cottage's dining table . A very enjoyable stay - thank you
